Meet Obby

Helping people and contributing to the community is so incredibly important to me. It’s one of the main reasons why I ran to be your MLA. I am working hard to tackle the things that matter most in Fort Whyte and hope to connect with each and every one of you soon.

Obby Khan was elected as the MLA for Fort Whyte on March 22, 2022, and was recently appointed Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage, and the Minister responsible for the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation, as well as Travel Manitoba.

Obby was born in Ottawa, earned a Bachelor of Science from Simon Fraser University, and is renowned for his illustrious nine-year CFL career with the Ottawa Renegades, Calgary Stampeders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

During his 7 years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Obby was a three-time recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award, an honour awarded to the player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community.

Time and time again, Obby has proven his dedication to Manitoba, having made it his home after his CFL retirement, and carving out a name in the entrepreneurial and community scenes and now serving as the MLA for Fort Whyte.

As a resident of Whyte Ridge, Obby is excited to continue supporting his own neighbourhood, bringing people together and working toward a better Manitoba for everyone.
