To make Manitoba safe, we must all stand up and oppose any act of violence, not for one community but for all communities.

Today, I was honoured to attend a news conference concerning the attack on a young woman at the Olive Garden in Transcona.. This matter is before the judicial system so I can not comment on it but I will say, enough is enough. That is why, I am proud to be part of a PC Government that has committed $52 million to the Manitoba Violent Crime Strategy.

A PC Government that has called for bail reform to keep violent criminals behind bars, unlike Wab Kinew’s NDP that has said the current bail reform system is fine. Our PC Government has also increased funding to police and support services, unlike the NDP that want to decrease police funding. We are working towards a better, safer Manitoba.

Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community, at school, walking around downtown, at their place of worship and everywhere else you can think of.

I want to express my condolences and support for the victim, their family, friends, and the entire community.

Fort Whyte residents, you have asked for this and we are listening. Since I have been elected I have heard multiple concerns from our community around safe roads and traffic flow, specifically in Whyte Ridge towards Brady Rd. As both your MLA, and a resident of Whyte Ridge, everyday I see first hand that changes need to be made nearing this busy intersection. I have actively been advocating for this and I am so happy to have been able to be present at today’s announcement regarding the twinning of Provincial Trunk Highway 3. This will begin 1.6KMs east of PTH 100, and continue to the Winnipeg city limits. This will benefit commercial services, but also create a safe and accessible environment for the families of Fort Whyte!
