Meet Obby!

Helping people and contributing to the community is so incredibly important to me. It’s one of the main reasons why I ran to be your MLA. I am working hard to tackle the things that matter most in Fort Whyte and hope to connect with each and every one of you soon.

A Positive Voice, Strong Advocate and Community Leader.

A graduate of Simon Fraser University, Obby Khan is renowned for his illustrious nine-year CFL career with the Ottawa Renegades, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders. During his 7 years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Obby was a three-time recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award, an honour awarded to the player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community.

Obby’s passion for hard work and community has skyrocketed him to the forefront of Winnipeg’s entrepreneurial and community scene. Following his CFL retirement in 2012, Obby has opened 3 businesses in Winnipeg – Shawarma Khan, Green Carrot Juice, and GoodLocal.

He’s fresh, he’s new and he’s listening to you.

Time and time again, Obby has proven his dedication to Winnipeg as he moved from the CFL field to entrepreneurship, and now to serving as the MLA for Fort Whyte. Obby is excited to continue supporting his own neighborhood, bringing people together and working toward a better Manitoba for everyone.

Obby has hit the ground running in this new role as MLA and has had the opportunity to participate in many community events, as well as some pretty great announcements that positively impact the Fort Whyte riding.
